Amendments to Godalming's on street parking were discussed by Surrey County Councillors on 30th January. Calls by residents to look at resident only parking zones (CPZ's) have been brushed aside by the Council. Surveys produced in great detail by the Healthcheck have also been ignored. The results will be rubber stamped by Conservative councillors whilst the public will not be able to have a say.
Local resident Patrick Haveron said: "The Council are relying on a survey that is 8 years out of date. Now that Waverley are enforcing the traffic lines there is a huge conflict between residents and commuters in streets from Town End Street to George Road. Extending parking to four hour no return bays will create more chaos and do little to solve the real problems."
Lb Dem Cllr Chris Slyfield commented: "I am extremely disappointed with Surrey that this meeting is not open to public questions. It is essential to get feedback from residents on such a sensitive subject as residents parking."
