Lib Dems support Waverley officers on Key Site Development

December 16, 2007 12:00 AM

Patrick Haveron, former Lib Dem Waverley Councillor for the Key Site, commented ahead of the Waverley planning meeting on 18th December:

"Waverley councillors will be asked to support planning officers in rejecting the Godalming Key Site Planning Application. Given the damning objections from the statutory consultees, Waverley councillors will be relieved that they will not, for once, be asked to make a difficult decision. Refusal is a no-brainer."

"We are looking for the minimum viable development, and the developer has not persuaded Waverley that 226 flats is the smallest viable scheme. The bottom line is the developer has paid too high a price for the land which does not justify the scale of development and lack of affordable housing"

Note:

Apart from the design and policy failings, the developer is also refusing to contribute:

57 x affordable houses

£400,000 towards Highways and cycle paths

£793,905 towards education contributions

£154,977 to indoor sport provisions

£85,590 towards equipped playschemes

38 x 1100 litre Eurobins
