Residents thanked for recycling boost

Your Lib Dem Councillors are thanking local residents for helping Waverley achieve the highest recycling rate in Surrey.

The rate hit 40% for November and December - up from 22% last year. Waverley has also cut by a third the amount it sends to landfill.

Waverley has now won special praise from a Government Minister for its recycling.

Cllr Vic Scrivens said, "These rates are a testament to the fine efforts of local people in recycling more.

"By keeping more waste out of landfill we are paying less landfill tax and helping to combat climate change - so it's better for taxpayers and the environment" he added.
