Conservative Surrey County Council is to hit local residents in the pocket with a tax rise of £43 this year. Lib Dem-run Waverley is again keeping its tax rises below inflation but it is the Tories at County Hall who claim 74% of your bill.
Despite the repeated Tory tax increases, services are getting worse. Surrey's roads have never been in a worse state.
The Conservatives have also wasted millions of pounds. £19.2million was spent in 2005/6 on agency staff and outside consultants, while another £4.62million was blown on a failed bid to move the County Council HQ.
The Liberal Democrats at Waverley are keeping rises this year to just £3. Despite this, efficiency savings have allowed improvements to parks and playgrounds across the borough.
Cllr Gill Ferguson said, "We're delivering good value services and keeping tax down."
