Eight Waverley households have been rehoused, thanks to a new development of affordable housing in Milford, that was originally bitterly opposed by local Conservatives. Reris Grange is a mix of private and affordable units, including five affordable rented homes and three homes for shared ownership. All affordable homes are owned and managed by Mount Green Housing Association.
Lib Dem Cllr Ken Reed, portfolio holder for housing visited the development last week and commented: "It is always pleasing to see more social housing for rent coming to the borough and even more pleasing that we have been able to house local families."
Nick Ronald, Chief Executive of Mount Green Housing Association was also present and said "Mount Green Housing Association was pleased to work closely with Waverley Borough Council in delivering much needed affordable accommodation in Milford, a popular village but where house prices are beyond the reach of many people. Such opportunities do not arise often and, if communities are to remain genuinely representative of all walks of life, have to be taken. The development at Reris Grange could only be achieved though a true partnership and in our relations in Waverley we found openness and cooperation, which were essential ingredients to the success of this initiative. We hope that the residents who have moved in will enjoy their new homes."
