Cranleigh Arts Centre
Cranleigh Arts Centre is to receive an extra £12,000 of funding from Waverley Borough Council to support a management service that will be provided by the Farnham Maltings.
Following a review on Cranleigh Arts Centre in October and November last year, it was recognised that developing an alliance with the Farnham Maltings would help Cranleigh Arts Centre become stronger and more sustainable as a venture. With both organisations sharing similar ambitions, by working together, the cultural profile across the whole borough could be raised while sharing resources and services would provide cost savings.
" I am delighted to see two of Waverley's significant arts centres working together, and I would like to thank the board of directors at the Maltings and the management of Cranleigh Arts Centre," says Lib Dem Cllr Byron Grainger-Jones, portfolio holder for leisure. He goes on to say: "The agreed £12,000 will enable the Farnham Maltings to provide Cranleigh Arts Centre with on site management and support, work with Cranleigh Arts Centre on seasonal joint programming, provide advice and guidance regarding artistic direction, provide strategic support at board level, assist with the expansion of programmes such as supporting artists and outreach and participation and assistance with developing robust health and safety procedures and systems. The requirement for additional funding to cover the management fee will be subject to regular monitoring and in the long term it is anticipated that the amount will be reduced as opportunities for project funding and shared resources come to fruition."
