Young people attending Waverley Training Services are receiving a good quality education and a wide range of training opportunities according to government inspectors.
The Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI), the government's inspectorate for skills and employment, has recognised the efforts of Waverley Training Services (WTS), Farnham, in equipping young people with invaluable workplace skills with the awarding of a 'good' rating in a recent 'Ofsted style' inspection.
Waverley Training Services is a non-profit making organisation that provides training and development opportunities to young people. There are currently nearly 50 learners undertaking apprenticeships or NVQs in areas such as motor vehicle mechanics, horticulture, information and communications technology, business administration, customer services and retailing. In addition, WTS provide valuable training on entry to employment (E2E) programmes for 18 learners and offer a range of training opportunities to local secondary schools and pupil referral units.
Lib Dem Councillor Stewart Edge, Waverley's portfolio holder for finance, best value and human resources, says: "This really is a positive outcome for Waverley Training Services as it officially recognises the hard work and dedication of the staff in ensuring that work based training meets the needs of the learners and local employers. WTS makes a positive contribution to the lives of young people in the borough helping those on their training programmes to develop the skills and build confidence in their abilities to enter the world of work successfully.
"As well as highlighting the significant achievements of WTS, the ALI's report is also useful for helping us to identify areas where we can make further improvements to the service we provide. We want to continue to create more opportunities to assist local young people into the world of work."
