Simon and the campaign for Safer Rotes to School for Aarons Hill
Simon Cordon and the local LibDem team are calling for the Rodborough School buses to come up Eashing Lane and pick children up on the estate. At the moment children have to cross the busy Portsmouth Road in the morning to catch the bus. Surrey County Council has a policy called: "Safe Routes To School", but they have ignored the needs of Rodborough pupils living on Ockford Ridge or Aarons Hill.
The Rodborough buses leave Portsmouth Road to pick children up in Busbridge and Holloway, so why not our estate too? Simon Cordon, who has a known record of fighting for our local buses, is leading the campaign. He says: "We will keep pushing for this small change to the routes until we succeed. It's only a small change we want but it will make a massive difference to safety for local kids".
Simon is also worried that the Conservatives, who run Surrey County Council, are looking at cutting important bus routes again, like the 70 and 71. They tried this last year, but the campaign led by Simon and local people stopped them. He is also still fighting for the return of evening and weekend routes for the estate. facilities in Godalming.
