Simon Hughes shows the Axe the Tax savings
Liberal Democrat President Simon Hughes and local Lib Dem Candidate Simon Cordon met many shoppers and pensioners outside Sainsbury's Godalming on Wednesday. They were pictured with Farncombe pensioner Douglas Legg (78). Simon Cordon said "With our proposals to scrap Council Tax Mr Legg would save over £80 a month. And with our other proposals for pensioners, Mr Legg would be a further £100 better off a month"
Douglas Legg said he would spend the extra £80 on shopping and gifts for his grandchildren, and use the £100 to keep his car on the road. Simon Hughes spent the day endorsing the 'Winning Here' message, and that there were only 861 votes to go. Very popular with the people he met in and around Sainsburys, he didn't stop talking and chatting to people, and he was warmly received. Great to know we have continued support from the very top of the Party!
