Simon Cordon, who successfully campaigned to save bus routes last year, now wants to see improvements that will increase bus usage. He has asked Stagecoach to look into boosting passenger numbers on the number 18 or 19 by re-routing either bus to the eastern end of West Street in Farnham.
"During our campaign last year I picked up a number of good suggestions that would increase passenger numbers and I am tackling these one by one" said Simon.
Simon has written to Stagecoach southern commercial manager, Edward Hodgson, to ask for one of the Farnham to Aldershot buses to be routed along West Street and collect passengers at the Chantrys and near Coxbridge. "A lot of people live here and a number have asked me to look at getting a bus direct to Aldershot to pick up at the Chantrys stop. I'm sure this would increase passenger numbers considerably", said Simon.
At the moment people living in the Chantrys and near Coxbridge can catch the hourly X64 to Guildford. If they want to travel to Aldershot they have to change in the Borough, but the times are not synchronised.
"An Aldershot bus used to travel to the Chantrys. I'm asking Stagecoach to look at this again. I'm hopeful they can be persuaded. If they don't agree in one go, I shall keep trying", added Simon.
