Cordon takes bus journey to highlight plight of bus users

Simon discovered a number of faults with local buses services which he is demanding are put right.

Simon Cordon took a bus journey from his home in Milford to Beacon Hill on Monday, March 22nd.

Simon concluded that Surrey's County Council's Conservatives are treating local bus users as second class citizens with a couldn't care less attitude to the quality of the service provided.

"I had arranged a meeting with Marianne O'Brien, the local bus fed rep, at her home in Beacon Hill. I decided to travel by bus to both highlight the problems for bus users and to find out for myself what having to use public transport in our area is like. I know it was a gesture but Tory councillors at Surrey, who have cut local services, should follow my example. They might then realise how shoddily they are treating people who rely on buses", said Simon

Simon has been one of the main campaigners against cuts to evening and weekend bus routes imposed by the County Council at the beginning of the year.

His journey today involved travelling from his home in Milford through to Beacon Hill. The outward journey was completed by bus with the return journey a combination of bus and train.

Simon kept a brief diary, and photo diary, of the day.
