Waverley Leader Chris Slyfield and Simon Cordon have campaigned sucessfully for a Borough-wide kerb-side recycling scheme
ONE-FIFTH of Waverley's waste is now being recycled. The sudden rise has taken place since the LibDems won control of the Borough last May.
The LibDems immediately took steps to extend the kerbside recycling scheme to every home in the including, inclduing the most difficult to reach rural areas.
"This is just a start", said local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman Simon Cordon. "We must fight restrictions that prohibit recycling of even more materials. Garden waste and plastics are a tough target but they must stay high on the agenda. So many other items could be recycled. The LibDems are lobbying for as much recycling as possible".
